# Reviewing & Verifying

## The Data tab: the full client profile

The **Data** tab holds every fact with its source. On the left you'll see **Review**, six sections, and **Archive**; the orange badge next to a section counts its unverified facts.

| Section | What's inside |

| **People** | The household's members, plus income, expenses, goals, concerns, preferences, life events, charitable giving, and other professionals like the client's CPA |
| **Financial Accounts** | Investment accounts and cash, the holdings inside them, and equity compensation |

| **Insurance** | Life, disability, long-term care, property, and health coverage, plus annuities |
| **Estate & Entities** | Businesses, trusts and legal entities, wills, directives, and beneficiary designations |

Inside a section, each row is one record: an account, a property, a goal, a policy. Click a row to expand it. Every value has a small toolbar:

* **Source** shows where the value came from: a **Meeting**, **Email**, **Document**, or **Manual** badge and the date. Meeting and email facts include the client's words, with a **Show context** option that opens the surrounding conversation; meeting sources link to the meeting, and document sources link to the file itself.
* **History** shows every value this fact has ever had, with dates and sources, and a **Restore** option for earlier values.
* **Edit** corrects the value in place. "Saving marks this value verified."
* **Verify** / **Unverify** is your trust mark; more below.

Use the **Household / member** switch at the top right to view one person's slice of the profile; a joint fact appears under each owner. Balances and amounts show an "as of" date so you always know how fresh a number is. Values with a dotted underline aren't ordinary captured facts; hover one to see why. Some are implied from other facts (like an account's tax treatment implied by the account type), and some come straight from the contact record.

## Reviewing new information

The Data tab opens on **Review** ("Review new information before adding it to the client profile."). It collects two kinds of items:

* **Needs owner**: facts Hazel captured but couldn't attribute, e.g. "3 facts need an owner assigned so they're filed under the right person." Click **Assign owner**, pick the member(s), done. Assigning is about filing the fact under the right person; the fact is part of the profile either way.
* **Unverified facts**, grouped by section. Each card shows the new values, the quote they came from, and the source. Click **Verify all** to confirm a record's new values (holdings inside an account are verified on their own rows), or expand to edit individual values first.

When the queue is empty you'll see **"All caught up"**. A quick pass after each meeting keeps the profile trustworthy, and because the profile is shared, one person's review covers the whole team.

## What verifying means

Every value is either **Verified** or **Unverified** (captured from conversation, not yet confirmed). Records with a mix show "2 / 5 verified."

Hazel uses both, but differently. When Hazel draws on the profile in chat or planning, verified facts are presented as confirmed, while unverified facts are explicitly flagged as unverified so you never mistake a half-heard number for a checked one. Verifying is how you (and Hazel) tell them apart.

Some facts arrive already verified: goals, concerns, preferences, life events, and identity details (the client's own words about themselves), facts from documents, and anything you enter yourself. Financial details heard in conversation start unverified until someone confirms them.

Made a mistake? **Unverify** puts a value back in the unverified pool, **Edit** replaces it with the correct one, and **History → Restore** brings back an earlier value (it returns with the verification status it had at the time).

## How updates and corrections work

Clients update things, and the profile keeps up: **the most recent statement of a fact wins, by source date.** If a client gives a new 401(k) balance in July, it replaces the March number, and the March value moves into History, never thrown away. This applies to values you've verified too: verification marks trust, it doesn't freeze the value. Meanwhile, out-of-date sources can't do damage. A January statement uploaded in August won't overwrite anything fresher, and re-statements of what's already known don't churn the profile.

If Hazel filed something under the wrong person, expand the record's **Owner** row and click **Fix owner**. Ownership always goes through this chooser, and a fact always keeps at least one owner.
